Fascia is the vertical board that runs along the edge of your roof, closing off the ends of the rafters and providing the surface your gutters attach to. Soffit is the panel that tucks underneath the roof overhang, bridging the gap between the fascia and the exterior wall. Together they finish the roofline and seal the transition between roof and wall.

These components do more than look tidy. The fascia carries the weight and water load of your gutters, while vented soffit allows fresh air to flow into the attic.
